Hi all

I'm after some advice, I applied and got a D on one of the competancy questions, I believe this to be because I spelt Christmases as such, I can't find another way to spell it.

I got a B overall but still didn't pass the sift, do you think I'll get anywhere if I contest this decision?

It's Warwickshire by the way.

Which competency did you fail on? It's unlikely to be due your spelling of christmases as that would appear to be correct so can't see what you could appeal against. Next time you should use a checking service like www.jointhepolice.org.uk

I got a D on the third question. Christmases has been circled as if to state that it's incorrect.

I'd call personnel and get clarification as to why you failed.

A B is normally accepted by all forces.

Maybe it's because you completed your application form on your computer ? (seen in another thread)

Nice point Beany. I rang the recruitment up and they told me to ring the npia as they do the marking. TBH I dont think the comp has anything to do with it. But I'll know more soon.

Good luck.

It does seem strange though as I got a B and passed the paper sift, I have to wait 8 months though for an assessment date Evil or Very Mad so I don't see why you failed on B, unless your chosen force has set the criteria for A's only.

Hope the NPIA clear it up for you so at least you know for next time. Wink

It would be interesting to see what they say. Could you keep us posted on the answer they give you?

Yes of course i will. It could eb just that one answer i gave wasn't up to scratch and it so happened that answer had a spelling mistake. lets wait and see. Anyone know when West Mids will be open for applications again? I want to try them now. I think I have a good chance.

I failed, but they asked to me try answering the failed question again, and sent me a new sheet. I hope I do it this time!

I know that if you fail the diversity question that's an automatic fail on the application in the West Mids, depends perhaps on the question. My friend failed her Met application as she got a D on one question too. Hopefully they can find out and give you a better answer though.
